What is Appelpop?

The Appelpop festival is a free festival in Tiel, the Netherlands. It has become one of the largest and most popular festivals of the Netherlands. Recent editions of the two day festival were visited by over 150.000 people.

Visitors and artists appreciate the unique atmosphere and location of the festival. Appelpop takes place in a beautiful location next to the town centre of Tiel and the river Waal, which is Europe’s most intensively used waterway.

The 22nd edition of Appelpop takes place on September 13 and 14, 2013.

Line-up

The Appelpop festival is a free festival with over 150,000 visitors in two days each year.

The full 2013 line-up will be announced in July. Two bands were announced in January: Golden Earring and Kensington.

No tickets!

Since Appelpop is a free festival, no tickets are sold. The festival sponsors make a free Appelpop festival possible.
If someone tries to sell you a ticket for the Appelpop festival, please contact the festival organisers.

Getting there

Tiel can be reached by car or train. More detailed travel information will be published a few weeks prior to the festival.

Facilities

Toilets are free and the Appelpop volunteers make great efforts to keep the toilets reasonably clean.

An official merchandise shop and information desk are available.

Disabled info

Appelpop is committed to make the event as accessible as possible and efforts have been made to achieve this where reasonable.
A viewing platform for wheelchair users is positioned near the Main Stage and Brunotti Stage. An accessible toilet is available.

History

The Appelpop festival was first organised in 1992. The 21st edition of the event takes place on 7 and 8 September 2012.
Past headliners of Appelpop are, among others: BUSH (UK), Alphabeat (DK), Gabriella Cilmi (AUS), Caro Emerald (NL), Golden Earring (NL), Babylon Circus (F), Within Temptation (NL), Mamas Gun (UK), The BossHoss (D), Kraak & Smaak (NL), Boo! (RSA) And K's Choice (B).

Performing

We are really pleased with attention of national and international bands. However, we can offer only 26 bands the opportunity to play. Almost all of those bands are famous acts booked through well known agencies.

Please do not send us your CD. This is a waste of your energy and money. If you want our attention, please send us an email (roderick@appelpop.nl) with a link to your music (for example MySpace, Soundcloud or Bandcamp).
We unfortunately can not guarantee a reply to those emails.

Accommodation

There is no camp site on the festival ground.
Shuttle busses take you to a camping just outside town, for which a reservation can be made through www.appelpopovernachtingen.nl (this is an external party service for which Appelpop is not responsible and the website is unfortunately in Dutch). This website is a co-operation of campings in the Tiel area.
